Last night I went to a dance prize giving. I got loads of certifactes and 1 trophy. The trophy I got was a town branch class prize. Town branch means that it is out of pakuranga, ellrisle and st helliers. I get to keep this trophy. Not like the other big trophy's.
I am so proud of myself for getting this trophy. But hopefully next year I will get one of those big trophy's.

This week we have been doing tasks and trying to memorise this poem.
Here it is it is called "The Jabberwocky".

Twas brillig, and the slithy toves,
did grye and grimble in the wabe,
all mimsy were the borogroves,
and mome raths outgrabe.

Beware the Jabberwock my son,
the jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jub-Jub bird and shun,
the fruious bandersnatch!

I Love The Islands!

As I walked towards Vector Arena for the I Love The Islands concert my feet tingled with excitement... they were getting ready to dance! 25 outstanding bands and singers in 1 night. From Elemeno P to Tim Finn to Bic Runga to Scribe... this one the one Kiwi music concert of the millenium!

10,000 people crowded the Vector arena last night to raise money for Samoa. I Love The Islands concert raised just over a quarter of a million dollars that will all go to helping rebuild Samoa after the tsunami.

The acts were amazing and the crowd was buzzing. Everyone was amped up for a fantastic night and were rearing to go. Oscar and Tu were the MC's for the night and they kept everyone on their toes and laughing in the tiny spaces between each act. They even brought the All Blacks on stage - I had to take a photo of them for Miss T! The most captivating acts of the evening for me were Elemeno P and Che Fu. But the double ending of the evening would have to be the ABSOLUTE highlight.

Scribe vs Savage for a battle to end all battles! Facing off on one stage, for one night, these 2 MC's showed NZ hip hop in it's finest form! From 'Swing' to 'We Cannot Be Stopped' these artists went 1 for 1 with all their best songs. Just when we thought the night was over they introduced Neil and Tim Finn for the finale!!

This week marked a sad week for the Auckland Zoo. Kashin, 1 of the 2 asian elephants at the Zoo, had been suffering from a range of health problems for some time and zoo keepers had to make the hard decision to put her to sleep. Kashin was a much loved icon of the Auckland Zoo and had been at the Zoo since 1972.

This weekend will mark a memorial service for Kashin. You can head along to the Auckland Zoo on Sunday 30th August from 9.30am til 5pm. There will be lots going on for the day! The Zoo is expecting huge crowds and asks for you all to very patient with the crowds as everyone is there to celebrate the life of Kashin.

AC is going on to the Auckland Zoo on Saturday and is going to represent Mega 25 to drop off the cards and messages we have made for Kashin. Thanks AC!
