On July 8th at 7pm there will be a concert for Under 18's in Manukau called Pick It Up. It's a concert featuring NZ hip hop artists. Tickets will be $10 and can be ordered from Ticket Direct. It's a pretty amazing line up that includes many of the NZ musicians that we looked at during NZ Music Month. Pick It Up is an organisation that works hard to support young people learning how and why we should recycle and care for our environment. So head along and support NZ musicians as well as our environment!

1. Mr Webb's Oldest NZ Music Challenge Locate the oldest NZ song that you can... artist and title! At the moment the oldest we have is Prince Tui Teka and the Patea Maori Club.
2. The Most NZ Musicians Challenge On Wednesday we will find out who knows the most NZ musicians to take out the NZ Music Month competition.
It's the last week of NZ Music Month... we have LOVED finding out about NZ Music and all agree we know many more NZ musicians than we did at the start!

When Supergroove broke up each band member went their own way. Che Fu started his solo career and is still around today... Thanks to Karl Stevens mum for leaving us a comment telling us all about Karls (Tthe other singer in Supergroove) new band called The Drab Doo Riffs.

Carrying on from the theme of looking at how music shares messages is a classic NZ song from The Herbs. It is called French Letter and it is a song that was written about nuclear testing.
The French wanted to test their Nuclear bombs around NZ in a place called Morurua in the 1970s and 80s. In 1985 a greenpeace boat called the 'Rainbow Warrior' that went to protest against the French nuclear testing was bombed in Auckland Harbour killing 1 person who was aboard, all the others managed to escape. On 28 January 1996 then-President Jacques Chirac said the French military would not conduct any more nuclear tests - Wikipedia.
